We are a local charity, set up to help local people within New Malden and Old Malden. If you live in this area and might need our help—or you know somebody who needs our help who lives in the area—then give us a call.
How We Can Help
There are many ways that we can help. Here are some of the things we can do to assist:
- Provide local transport for people who do not qualify for hospital transport, the Taxi-card scheme or Dial-a-Ride, and who are unable to use public transport.
- Accompany people who feel unsure about travelling alone to hospital or clinic appointments, but who have arranged their own transport.
- Collect a prescription if someone is alone or unable to go to the pharmacy.
- Do emergency shopping.
- Do small household repairs for people with disabilities or older people who do not qualify under any other repair scheme.
- Provide the occasional visitor for lonely or housebound people.
- Write a letter or fill in forms for those unable to cope with these tasks.
How You Can Get Help
Just ring the Malden Care Scheme telephone number (8949 2233) or ask someone to do it for you.
When you call the number, you will get through to an answering machine which will give you the telephone number of that day's Duty Officer. If you then call the Duty Officer, they will take your details and do all they can to find a suitable volunteer to help.
